Arizona Adventure 2015 Crusade
Dear Friends and Family,
I am one week away from my 7th Crusade with the Saints Prison Ministry! Next Wednesday morning I am leaving for Phoenix, Arizona for a 5 day trip that will see us visit 5 prisons, play a bunch of softball, and speak to several inmates about Jesus Christ.
Please keep this trip in prayer. This has been a tough trip in regards to logistics but God is faithful and we are excited as a team to serve Him next week. Here are some ways to pray for us this coming week.
Inmates– Pray for the men that we will encounter as they are the purpose of this trip. There will ample opportunities to share the Gospel and to get literature in the hands of thousands of men. Pray that God will soften hearts and prepare men to see a need in their lives for the Gospel. Pray for the Christian inmates, that they will be encouraged during our visits. Pray that God will use these games to make an eternal impact for His Kingdom!
Traveling Mercies– We have guys coming from Peoria, Georgia, New Jersey, and Mississippi. Everyone is traveling by air this time! Please keep us in prayer!
Team Unity– We will be around each other for almost 100 straight hours. Please pray that fellowship will be sweet and moral will be high as we serve together. Having a week to hang out with my teammates on the bus is almost as big as a blessing as ministering in prison.
Team Performance– Softball is the tool to get into the prison and minister, but pray that we play well and ultimately play with a Colossians 3:23 attitude and play for God and not for men! Pray for tired muscles and joints as we will be tested physically. Our objective isn’t to go 20-0 on the trip but to play at a level that engages the inmates and earns their respect so we can be more effective sharing the Gospel in between games.
Speakers– Pray for the Missionary Athletes who will be sharing their testimonies of how they met Jesus and for the Missionary Athletes who will be sharing the Gospel. I won’t be speaking in prison on this trip but I will be sharing the team devotions. Please keep me in prayer that I am clear and that our time learning God’s Word together would be a blessing.
Families– Each of the 15 Missionary Athletes are leaving a family at home so they can minister. Please pray for all of the wives and moms who have to brave work and kids by themselves. Pray that kids will be good (especially mine!), cars won’t break down, and appliances won’t fall apart while we are gone! Pray for kid’s health that we won’t be worrying about sickness and ER visits during our time to minister.
I am very thankful that Kelly is very supportive of what I do but pray for her as she will be juggling work, kids, and the day to day life that happens at our home all by herself! Feel free to send her or any of the other wives a quick note of encouragement as Kelly and the other wives plays as big of a part as the missionary athletes do in this ministry!
- Logistics– Logistics? This is always a weird request! There are several intricate details that need to happen in order for us to do what we do! Please pray for good weather. Pray that the staff at each facility will be accommodating to our ministry. Pray that schedules don’t mixed up causing delay. Pray for continuity as we have to use multiple hotels on this trip. Pray that the missionary athletes don’t forget their driver’s licenses as that is what stands between us getting in the facility or sitting on a bus all day.
